Geotechnical Fundamentals for Underground Mining
The Geotechnical Center of Excellence at the University of Arizona is excited to bring Geotechnical Fundamentals for Underground Mining to the mining community. Enhance your expertise in underground mining with this practical course on geotechnical principles.
This course teaches geomechanics principles that underpin safe and effective underground mining, with a focus on metalliferous environments. Participants will gain an understanding of rock mass behavior while building practical skills in hazard recognition, excavation stability, ground support design, risk management, monitoring and instrumentation, and infrastructure planning. Through real-world case studies and industry best practices, the course connects underlying theory to operational practice, equipping participants with the knowledge needed to support safe, efficient, and sustainable underground mining operations throughout the mine life cycle.
