Learning Outcomes

By the end of this conference, participants will be able to:

1. Identify and understand current research findings and evidence-based      practices related to the assessment and support of children with CVI.
2. Explain practical strategies for supporting children with CVI at home, in early intervention programs, and in classroom settings.
3. Explain the importance of family-centered, child-focused approaches in improving outcomes for children with CVI.
4. Collaborate with families, educators, therapists, and medical providers to plan and implement effective supports for children with CVI.
5. Collaborate across disciplines to share resources, problem-solve challenges, and promote continuity of care and education.

Continuing Medical Education Credits

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of The Children's Mercy Hospital and Kansas School for the Blind. The Children's Mercy Hospital is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 

Children's Mercy Hospital  designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation (ACVREP) Credits

This conference is also planned to qualify for Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation (ACVREP) Credits.  These credits are for Vision Impairment Specialists, who provide services to individuals who are blind or have low vision, the means to demonstrate critical knowledge and skills that promote the provision of quality services and ethical practice.

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Credits

This conference is also planned to qualify for American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Credits.  These credits are for Speech-Language Pathologists, Audiologists, and other professionals.

Will need to sign in and fill out evaluation during conference for credit.

KOTA (Kansas Occupational Therapy Association) Credits

This program was approved for 4.5 credit hours through the Kansas Occupational Therapy Association’s Continuing Education Committee.

MNU Continuing Education Credits

Register for EDCI 9169 to earn 0.5 graduate level continuing education credits with MNU for $45. Requires submitting STAR assignment by April 3, 2026 to med@mnu.edu.
