What is GivePower?

GivePower is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing access to clean drinking water and renewable energy solutions to communities around the world. Trek participants will have the opportunity to see the impact of these projects firsthand while supporting GivePower's mission.

What are the dates of the 2026 GivePower Trek?

The 2026 CAC GivePower Trek will take place November 1–7, 2026. Participants should plan to be available for the full duration of the trip, including travel days.

Who is eligible to apply?

Employees are eligible to apply if they:

• Have been employed by CAC or The Baldwin Group for at least one year at the time of the trek.
• Receive approval from their manager to participate.
• Are able to commit to the full trip and required activities.

Submitting an application does not guarantee selection.

Where are we going?

The 2026 trek will take place in Colombia, where participants will work alongside GivePower and local communities to help improve access to electricity, clean water and sustainable resources.

What will we be doing?

Activities may include:

• Visiting GivePower project sites.
• Participating in volunteer and community engagement opportunities.
• Learning about local culture and customs.
• Collaborating with fellow CAC and Baldwin team members.
• Experiencing some of Colombia's natural beauty and history.

How much travel time should I expect?

Travel times to and from Colombia will vary depending on your departure location and flight itinerary. Participants should plan for a full week of travel and activities, with arrival in time for dinner on Sunday, November 1, and departures on Saturday, November 7.

Will travel expenses be covered?

CAC will reimburse approved roundtrip airfare expenses through Concur. Participants should obtain the appropriate approvals before purchasing airfare and follow company expense reimbursement guidelines. Lodging, ground transportation and meals will be provided by GivePower.

Will I need any vaccinations or health precautions?

Yes. The yellow fever vaccine is required prior to travel to Colombia, and other preventative health measures may be recommended by your healthcare provider or travel clinic. The vaccine is not advised for: pregnant/nursing mothers, people with weakened immune systems or those who have a history of thymus disease, and individuals allergic to eggs, chicken or gelatin. Those who have received the vaccine within the last 10 years are covered and can provide their Yellow Card, but longer than ten years can receive a booster. Participants are responsible for locating a pharmacy/healthcare provider who can administer the vaccine at least 10 days prior to departure. Additional information will be provided closer to the trip.

Will I need to use PTO to participate?

For teammates who apply paid time off, you will receive five days of paid time to cover participation in the GivePower Trek. Any personal travel extensions before or after the trek will require the use of your own PTO and should be coordinated with your manager in advance.

Will I have my own room?

Participants should expect to share hotel accommodations with another trek attendee. Assignments will be coordinated prior to departure.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

No. Spanish proficiency is not required. English-speaking guides and GivePower staff will be available throughout the trip.

What is the weather like in Colombia in November?

November temperatures vary depending on the region but are generally warm, with daytime highs ranging from the 70s to mid-80s°F (20–30°C). Lightweight clothing, comfortable walking shoes, and rain gear are recommended.

Is Colombia safe?

Millions of travelers visit Colombia each year, and our itinerary and accommodations have been carefully selected with safety in mind. As with any international travel, participants should exercise normal precautions and follow guidance provided by our corporate security team, GivePower and trip organizers.

The safety and well-being of our colleagues is a top priority. CAC and The Baldwin Group have established processes and protocols that are in place to help ensure a safe experience for participants, including coordination with trusted local partners, carefully planned logistics, and ongoing support throughout the trip. Additional travel, health, and safety information will be provided to all attendees prior to departure.

Will I need a passport?

Yes. Participants must have a valid U.S. passport with one blank passport page for entry stamp. Your passprt mus be vaild at the time of entry and for the duration of your stay, as well as valid for at least six months beyond the travel dates. It is recommended that travelers verify their passport expiration date well in advance. U.S. citizens do not need a Colombian visa for tourism or business if staying for 90 days or less. 

What level of physical activity should I expect?

Participants should be comfortable with:

• Walking for extended periods.
• Standing for several hours.
• Navigating uneven terrain.
• Participating in light volunteer activities.

No specialized skills are required, but a moderate level of mobility is recommended.

What should I pack?

Recommended items include:

• Comfortable walking shoes.
• Lightweight, breathable clothing.
• A reusable water bottle.
• Sunscreen and insect repellent.
• Rain jacket or poncho.
• Any necessary medications.
• Passport and travel documents.

A detailed packing list will be provided before departure.

Can I extend my stay?

This trek is intended to be a group experience for CAC and Baldwin employees with insurance partner and client guests. If you would like to invite a partner or client please request through Sue Danz. Any personal travel plans before or after the trek will be your own responsibility, booked separately at your own expense. CAC/Baldwin travel insurance and security features can be extended with approval, but the GivePower travel insurance only applies for the exact trek dates.
