This will be an in-person only event and we look forward to seeing you there. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the exciting, cutting-edge research being conducted while attending the sessions offered. There will also be a meet and greet with national laboratory staff and others, a graduate student lunch, and a poster session to promote networking and making connections. Sponsored by NNSA’s Office of Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation, the SSAP includes the Stewardship Science Academic Alliances (SSAA) Program and the High Energy Density Laboratory Plasmas (HEDLP) Program. The SSAP Symposium is intended for those supported by a SSAA or HEDLP grant or cooperative agreement funded by NNSA and DOE/NNSA/national lab, plant, and site staff.

Symposium Registration – Monday, February 2, 2026
Poster Registration – Monday, February 2, 2026
The goals of this symposium include the following:
- Highlight the accomplishments of the academic programs. These presentations are part of the periodic program reviews to assess progress and ensure alignment with program objectives.
- Promote interaction and help build user communities in areas of physical science relevant to stockpile stewardship.
- Foster ties between participants, sponsors, and the NNSA National Laboratories and identify areas for future collaborations.
- Encourage student and postdoctoral researcher involvement and interaction with the scientific community.
As in past years, presentations on topics of general interest will be given by NNSA National Laboratory and DOE/NNSA personnel. It’s an excellent opportunity to meet important members of the stockpile stewardship community and discuss your interests. Attendees from past symposia have made connections for internships, postdoc opportunities, and future employment. Note that all presentations and discussions will be unclassified.
Graduate students supported by the SSAP are encouraged to present a poster. Poster registration is now CLOSED. Contact NNSA@orau.org for more information.
Special Note to Grantees
The SSAA and HEDLP grantees who are required to give a presentation during the symposium will be contacted by email. All presentations will be given in person. It is your responsibility to either attend in-person to give your presentation or arrange for a representative to present in-person. Visit the Presentation Guidelines page of this website for important information.
Registration for this symposium is required.
