And Now What ? - Challenges in Foreign Policy
ABOUT THE EVENT
From 2009 to 2014, Baroness Catherine Ashton served as the European Union’s first High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, representing the interests and values of 28 member states during a period of profound international upheaval.
Her tenure coincided with some of the most significant diplomatic challenges of the time: the escalating conflict in Ukraine, negotiations leading to the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), and ongoing crises in Serbia, Somalia, Libya and Haiti.
More than a decade after her time in Brussels, Baroness Ashton will join the Geneva Chapter for a special occasion to share her perspectives on the future of the multilateral system and how it can be made fit for purpose. She will address the challenges of strengthening cooperation between states, responding to current crises, including Iran, Ukraine and Sudan, and navigating the complex relationships between Europe, the United States, China and Russia.
Her acclaimed book, "And Then What?", praised by the Financial Times and The Observer, offers a unique insight into the realities of diplomacy and the decisions that shape international affairs.
Drawing on her extensive experience at the highest levels of European diplomacy, Baroness Ashton will take us behind the scenes of this vital role and reflect on the question that continues to define our times: “And now what?”
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear from one of Europe’s leading diplomatic voices.
