VISA & TRAVEL
Most travelers need a visa to enter Egypt; options depend on nationality.
- e-Visa (recommended) — Apply online at visa2egypt.gov.eg before departure. Available to many nationalities, including the US, Canada, UK, and most EU countries. 30-day validity. Apply at least 1–2 weeks ahead.
- Visa on arrival — Citizens of 70+ countries (US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia, New Zealand) can buy a 30-day single-entry visa at the airport. Cost: $25 USD cash (bring exact change). Passport must be valid six months with a blank page.
- Exclusions — Some nationalities can't use visa-on-arrival and must apply at an Egyptian embassy or consulate first (including Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Mali, Niger, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Yemen). This list is indicative and subject to change — confirm current rules with your nearest Egyptian mission.
- Passport — Valid six months from entry; one blank page recommended. Vaccines — Yellow Fever proof is required only if arriving from a risk country (not usually needed from the US/Europe). Hepatitis A/B and Typhoid are recommended.
- Invitation letter — Once registered, request your letter via [this form]. Register early so we can issue it in time.
