14th Annual MMCN Conference

Join us for the14th Annual Maine Military and Community Network Conference, being held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Augusta Civic Center, where we will explore resources and support systems available in our local communities to help our veterans and service members thrive. This year’s theme is Beyond the Uniform: Rediscovering Identity, Purpose, and Belonging

Keynote Speaker, Richard Golden, will speak on the topic of Post-Traumatic Growth and the Struggle Well Program. Post-traumatic Growth (PTG) is a positive psychological transformation that can happen after trauma. The science of PTG demonstrates that when we’re forced to reflect on our lives and make sense of the destruction caused by trauma, our struggles can become a catalyst for change. Trauma does not have to be the end of the road, rather it can be the path to a new beginning. Struggle Well is a prevention-focused program based on the science of Posttraumatic Growth.

Following the keynote addresses, attendees can participate in a variety of breakout sessions focusing on important topics, including:

Military Culture 101
Suicide Postvention as Prevention
Resources in Arts and Health for Veterans, Military and Family
Combating Social Isolation

Throughout the day, participants will have ample opportunities for networking, gathering valuable information, and sharing fellowship with fellow veterans and community members.

Conference Objectives:

Engage civilian communities in the reintegration of veterans and service members.
Increase awareness among service members, veterans, and providers regarding issues and opportunities related to the wellbeing of those who have served in the military.
