ACLS Instructor Information
Thank you for serving as an American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Instructor. Your expertise and commitment are essential to providing high-quality resuscitation education and ensuring that healthcare professionals are prepared to deliver evidence-based emergency cardiovascular care.
Instructor Requirements
To teach an ACLS Provider Course, instructors must:
- Maintain a current AHA ACLS Provider and ACLS Instructor certification.
- Be affiliated with the Stony Brook University Hospital AHA Training Center.
- Comply with all AHA and Training Center policies and procedures.
- Bring your AHA ACLS Instructor Manual to every course.
- Arrive prepared to teach assigned course content and skills stations.
Teaching Requirement
To maintain active AHA Instructor status, instructors are expected to teach a minimum of four (4) AHA courses within a two-year renewal period, in accordance with Training Center requirements.
Instructors are encouraged to teach more than the minimum requirement whenever their schedule permits. Teaching additional courses helps maintain instructional proficiency, supports the Training Center’s educational mission, and provides flexibility in meeting renewal requirements.
