COURSE DESCRIPTION

Soft tissue management is critical to achieving long-term functional and esthetic success around both natural teeth and dental implants. This program explores the similarities and key differences in managing peri-dental and peri-implant soft tissues, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary decision-making between the periodontist and restorative dentist. Through real-world clinical scenarios, participants will examine the management of noncarious cervical lesions, esthetic zone restorations, and implant-related soft tissue complications, including recession and prosthetic-driven outcomes. Attendees will gain practical strategies to improve treatment planning, optimize esthetic results, and recognize when implant outcomes may be compromised.

1. Differentiate the biological and clinical considerations of soft tissue grafting around natural teeth versus dental implants to support appropriate treatment planning.
2. Evaluate interdisciplinary approaches for managing noncarious cervical lesions and restorations in the esthetic zone to enhance functional and esthetic outcomes.
3. Assess soft tissue complications around implants, including recession and prosthetic  influences, to determine predictable management strategies and identify cases with poor esthetic prognosis.
