Title: Understanding & Documenting Respiratory Illness
Date: Wednesday, October 21, 2026
Time: 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Tis the Season! So, our staff has put together some very valuable information to better assist our providers in understanding and documenting the most common respiratory illnesses seen from October to May!
During this session, subject matter experts (SMEs) will define and describe the respiratory illnesses identified within the Medicare population such as Influenza, Coronavirus, Respiratory Syncytial Virus, Pneumococcal Pneumonia and others. Our SMEs will highlight recent respiratory illness statistics, at risk populations, prevention, diagnoses, vaccinations, and treatment in an effort to increase provider knowledge and subsequently decrease transmission. Information specific to cause, route of transmission, season of prevalence, symptomology and possible outcomes of worsening symptoms will be discussed.
Importantly, SMEs will describe documentation that assists in supporting medical necessity for services related to respiratory illness including patient history, medication/vaccination records, laboratory results, diagnostics and more! Valuable resources will be distributed along with the opportunity to ask questions.
Who Should Attend this Session: Providers (MD, PA, NP, CNS, CNM, PT, OT, SLP), Clinicians (APRN, RN, LPN, PTA, OTA, NAs, HHAs) Quality & Compliance Directors and Staff, Education Directors & Staff, Documentation Specialists, Administrative Staff (CNOs, CMOs, Medical Directors, Nursing Directors) and any other staff that work in close proximity with beneficiaries/patients or may benefit from the material.
