Introduction to the Oil & Gas Industry (15 Hours | Prerequisites: None)

This fifteen-hour foundational course provides a broad overview of the oil and gas industry, making it the ideal starting point for anyone new to the field or looking to build a solid base of industry knowledge. Participants will explore what crude oil and natural gas are, how they are generated, and where they are found, along with key geologic concepts such as rock types, plate tectonics, geologic structures, and depositional environments. The course also covers the full lifecycle of oil and gas development — from exploration and drilling through well completion, production, enhanced recovery, and unconventional reservoirs — as well as practical topics like land ownership, mineral rights, mapping systems, and basic engineering economics. This course is ideal for anyone entering the oil and gas industry, supporting roles such as geology, land administration, accounting, engineering, or data management, or simply seeking a well-rounded understanding of how the industry operates. No prior knowledge or experience is required.
