Application approval requires proof of fuel system inspector training. You will not be charged the exam fee until your application is approved.
Exam participants must be at least 18 years of age.
All registrations are pending until approved by AFVi. Once your registration request has been reviewed, you will receive notification of your status via email. Registration fee includes one free retake, if needed.
Once you receive your login credentials, you will have 15 days to complete the exam.
Online AFVi CNG Fuel System Inspector Certification
AFVi's CNG Fuel System Inspector Certification provides and independent assessment of the knowledge and application of skills necessary for technicians to competently conduct a CNG fuel system inspection according to all applicable codes and standards, and industry best practices.
The exam consists of 60 multiple choice questions and must be completed within a two-hour period. Within two weeks of completing the exam, participants will be notified via email of their results. To obtain certification, AFVi requires a minimum score of 80%. Certification is valid for five years.
The online exam is electronically proctored by an automated exam proctoring solution. Exam participants must complete an authentication process prior to the exam. Throughout the exam, the proctoring software will monitor for behaviors typically associated with cheating.
Exam Requirements:
To complete the online exam, you must have:
- The ability to download a small program.
- A reliable computer or laptop that meets the necessary system requirements.
- A webcam and microphone connected to or built-in to a computer or laptop.
- A reliable high-speed internet connection.
- A valid photo ID.
- A quiet, well-lit room.
- The ability to remain seated for the duration of the exam.
Exam Rules
Your actions and behaviors will be recorded throughout the duration of the exam. To be eligible for grading, you must adhere to the following policies.
- You may not browse any websites, or have any other application open during the exam.
- The exam area will be scanned using a webcam prior to starting. The entire area, including your desk should be clutter free and clear.
- Your desk/testing area must be clear of any notes or study materials.
- You are not permitted to leave the room and must observe complete silence during the duration of the exam.
- You may not lean out of the camera view.
- Be sure you are in a well-lit, quiet and private room. The lighting of your room should be daylight quality and overhead lighting is preferred.
- Cell phones, headphones, ear buds, iPods, cameras, tablets, and any other electronic devices are not permitted in the testing area.
- No other individuals are allowed in the area in which the exam is being taken and you are not permitted to communicate with others by any means.
- External cameras, when possible, should be placed on the lid of the laptop where it will have a constant, uninterrupted view of the test taker. The webcam must be focused on the test taker the entire duration of the exam.
If any of these rules are violated, your exam will be declared invalid and you will not receive a score. Refunds will not be made for failure to follow testing procedures.
