This session will review the ways in which the Macdonaldtown Gasworks Remediation satisfied the three pillars of sustainability: economic, environmental and social. The review will also provide project examples demonstrating some of the principles ofA Framework for Assessing the Sustainability of Soil and Groundwater Remediation(2011), SuRF ANZ, ALGA Ltd, CRC CARE. The session will aim to inspire ideas about how remediators and clients can develop initiatives that shift the practical boundaries of sustainable remediation.

Catherine Fletcher is the Community Relations Manager for Ventia’s Environment and Engineering business. She works independently or in conjunction with clients, to develop and implement proactive community engagement strategies across Ventia’s remediation projects. By fostering productive stakeholder relationships, Catherine builds positive public profiles for the projects and educates stakeholders about their importance. Catherine also develops the community-focused culture of Ventia’s business unit.
Adam Fletcher,

Adam Fletcher is the Operations Manager for Ventia’s Environmental Services, responsible for planning, directing and coordinating operations within the Environmental Services business. Prior to Operations Manager Adam was responsible for delivering a number of high-profile remediation projects including the multi award winning Macdonaldtown Gasworks and more recently the Barangaroo Remediation Project involving the excavation and disposal of up to 430,000T gasworks impacted waste from within a purpose built 24,000m2 Odour Control Enclosure.
