Soumaya Keynes
Soumaya Keynes is an economics columnist at the Financial Times and host of the podcast The Economics Show with Soumaya Keynes. Before joining the Financial Times in July 2023, she spent eight years at The Economist, where she won an award from the Association of Business Journalists for her commentary on the first Trump administration’s trade policy. She cofounded the Trade Talks podcast during the Trump administration’s first term and cohosted The Economist’s Money Talks podcast. She started her career as an economist working at the UK Treasury and then as a researcher at the Institute for Fiscal Studies. She is co-author of How to Win a Trade War: An Optimistic Guide to an Anxious Global Economy.
Brent Neiman
Brent Neiman is the Edward Eagle Brown Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. From 2022 to 2025, he served at the US Department of the Treasury as counselor to the secretary and deputy undersecretary for international finance. Previously, he was a staff economist for the White House Council of Economic Advisers and worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and McKinsey & Company. Neiman was a member of the Council’s 2011 Emerging Leaders cohort.
Kyla Scanlon
Kyla Scanlon is the founder of Kyla Labs. She writes about money, markets, and the systems that shape them for an audience of over one million people across TikTok, Instagram, Substack, and YouTube, covering the pressing issues of the day – including tariffs, artificial intelligence, energy markets, and why the traditional rungs of the economic ladder have gotten harder to climb. Kyla’s debut book, In This Economy? How Money and Markets Really Work, was a New York Times bestseller and used hand-drawn diagrams to make the machinery of the economy clear. She writes monthly for New York Times Opinion, has a video partnership with Foreign Policy, and is a contributor and analyst at CNN. She is also a senior fellow at the Vanderbilt Policy Accelerator and a research fellow at the American Institute of Boys and Men.
