The Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course is a two day course focusing on the application of the essential fetal heart monitoring knowledge and skills used in intrapartum nursing practice. The course consists of distinct didactic and skill station sessions. Course Objectives Analyze fetal heart rate patterns, uterine activity and the implications of each for fetal well-being. Discuss indicated clinical interventions and related maternal-fetal physiology. Effectively communicate verbal and written data about patient status. Describe the roles and responsibilities of healthcare providers in the use of FHM in intrapartum care. Demonstrate the psychomotor skills used in FHM. Target Audience The Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course is designed for clinicians with a minimum of six months of perinatal experience using fetal heart monitoring in an intrapartum setting. Physicians may attend this program and received continuing medical education credit for full participation.
