This video series is designed to support new-to-Alaska teachers in building a strong foundation for effective math instruction across grades K–8. While sessions are organized by grade bands, participants are encouraged to engage with the full series to better understand the complete learning progression students experience over time.

By exploring how mathematical concepts develop—from early number sense and place value to fractions and middle school critical thinking—teachers will gain a deeper understanding of how skills build on one another. This broader perspective helps ensure students develop the essential foundations needed for future success.

Through practical strategies, including the intentional use of manipulatives and visuals, this series equips educators to strengthen student understanding, address misconceptions, and foster confident, capable math learners.
