Special AASB & ALASBO Joint Session on Saturday Afternoon!
MONEY FOR NOTHING
In Search of Successful Bargaining Strategies
in a Complicated Funding World
Presented and Facilitated by John M. Sedor, P.C., Attorney, Clendaniel Heyman Campion.
This is a unique Joint Session of the Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB) and Alaska Association of School Business Officials (ALASBO):
Quid pro quo means “this for that”—but "this" and "that" rarely have equal value to both sides.
How does collective bargaining work? Value is rarely absolute, and understanding what each side values is key to developing a successful bargaining strategy and reaching better outcomes.
Successful bargaining requires understanding the work behind the scenes, recognizing what each side truly values, and avoiding distractions that can derail the process.
In this interactive session, you will explore
- How collective bargaining works.
- How to leverage your district's strengths in the process.
- How to focus on realistic goals.
- How to negotiate with strategy rather than perception.
As Mick Jagger famously sang, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try, sometimes you get what you need."
This will be a fast-paced, interactive session. Bring your questions and your perspectives.
