Spring Session: Nitrogen Cycle & Cyanobacteria
Students will explore how nitrogen moves through our environment — from the air, into the soil, and through living things — and discover how tiny organisms like cyanobacteria play a big role in keeping ecosystems balanced. They'll bring this science to life by creating original artwork inspired by the microscopic beauty of phytoplankton. It's a perfect blend of environmental science and creative expression!
Summer Session: Discover Island Internship Opportunities
Inspired by a comic created by a 2025 intern, students will get an inside look at what it's like to work and learn on the island. Then they'll put their own spin on it — designing a comic page that imagines their ideal day as an intern, from morning chores to exciting discoveries. A fun, hands-on way to explore real career pathways in conservation and agriculture!
Fall Session: Farming Practices & Pond Health
Students will investigate how the choices farmers make — from what they plant to how they manage runoff — directly affect the health of local ponds and waterways. They'll apply what they learn by building dioramas that showcase farm designs that protect and support clean water systems. A hands-on way to connect land stewardship with the ecosystems we all depend on!
