What's Changed for 2025
Message from EATA President
Dear EATA Symposium Attendees,
I would like to welcome you to the 77th Annual EATA Meeting and Clinical Symposium at Loews Hotel in Philadelphia. As you register you will notice that there have been some changes to the usual programming and events schedule for the symposium. I would like to take the opportunity to explain some of these changes in an effort to inform you prior to your attendance.
The EATA Executive Board (EB) has been faced with the overwhelming rising costs of hosting our annual symposium. Food and beverage costs have risen at our symposium sites and the cost of AV has skyrocketed over the past few years. EATA cannot continue to absorb the annual losses associated with our symposium and maintain our financial solvency.
Last year, the Executive Board formed a Long-Range Planning Workgroup made up of EB members and general membership to assist us with creating fiscally responsible symposiums without sacrificing the educational excellence and the networking opportunities of our annual meeting. Our interaction has resulted in some changes that are reflected in our symposium for this year.
The most substantial change you will notice is that we will not be hosting an awards banquet at EATA 2025. We will have a stand-alone awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon in order to honor our EATA awards and scholarship winners as well as our Class of 2025 ’49 Club inductees. All of the awards and scholarships associated with previous banquets will be presented at that ceremony.
We have also decided to include a breakfast social prior to the William E. “Pinky” Newell Address which will be presented by Sue Guyer. We feel that providing a full buffet breakfast at a low cost prior to the keynote address will allow our attendees to mingle and network with each other and then enjoy what I’m sure will be a memorable address from Sue.
There are other minor changes such as increased time between lectures and extended lunch breaks designed to increase interaction among attendees and promote attendance to our Exhibit Hall. Again, our goal is maintaining the educational excellence and networking opportunities for our members while maintaining fiscal responsibility during challenging times.
Thank you for your understanding. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions at president@goeata.org.
Sincerely,
John Moyer
EATA President
