Course Description
We frequently are faced with meeting the wants and needs of our patients. The popularity of immediate implant therapies bring to the practice of dentistry challenges to longevity. This presentation will illustrate how a focus on immediate placement and immediate loading can be aligned with desired longevity. Four key points will be addressed: 1) The importance of primary stability, how it can be achieved and how it is measured, 2) The potential risks of high torque to bone health and component integrity, 3) The significance of soft tissue determinants, and 4) The principles of sound prosthesis design. The resounding message here is that detailed treatment planning is essential, yet, surprises do confront the practice of immediate placement and provisionalization procedures.To achieve reproducible success, clinicians must have at their fingertips the planning software and related skills, implants that gain primary stability in challenging bony environments, components that accommodate to diverse anatomic conditions, and provisional prostheses that support secondary stability and forming peri-implant tissue health. Continuous supportive implant therapy (SIT) rests on a well-executed plan. When planned and performed to the highest level, immediate procedures can provide a foundation for dental implant therapeutic longevity.
