The Business of Optometry: Art of Optical Management course was created to teach the fundamentals of managing an optical. Optical revenue represents over 50% of revenue for most private practices and understanding the business side of the optical is important. In this course you will interact with like minded colleagues and learn from Vision Source Business of Optometry faculty who are subject matter experts.

Please plan your travel to arrive by 5pm so you are able to join us for dinner and our opening session. This is important to introduce you to your fellow colleagues and begin the discussions that will occur throughout the course of the curriculum. Departing flights should be made after 6pm.

Alex Martin OD
Alex Martin has been a Vision Source member since 2006 and currently owns 2 offices in NC. He serves as an Administration in Central NC, since 2012 and serves as a Consultant to the Vision Source Vendor Relations Team, since 2016, overseeing frame and optical merchandising vendors. He also serves as a consultant to Vision Source’s proprietary Frame Dream program, since inception, which now operates in 1,000 of our members optical dispensaries. He provides practice management consultations for iECP’s and also lectures on frame board management, optical business strategies and retail sales strategies.
Brad Byergo OD
Brad Byergo earned his Doctor of Optometry degree with highest honors from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2002, following a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Mizzou. He joined Midwest Eye Associates that same year, becoming Medical Director in 2004 and later President and Senior Partner. In 2012, he led the practice into partnership with Vision Source, where he now serves as St. Louis administrator and consultant after a five-year term on the national advisory board.
Outside of optometry, Dr. Byergo enjoys family life with his wife Susie and their daughters, Allie and Katie. A loyal Mizzou fan, he also loves barbecuing, golfing, and supporting his daughters in their sports activities.
Aaron Werner OD
Aaron builds on a long legacy following his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather in becoming a doctor of optometry. He is owner at Werner Optometry in San Diego, CA. A lifelong resident of San Diego, Aaron worked in his father's private optometry practice before earning his doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry. In addition to caring for patients at Werner Optometry, he serves as the Sr Director of Education Vision Source.
Outside of the office, Aaron loves to hike, run, soccer, and enjoy time with his wife, 3 children, grandson, and dogs.
