The Implementation Roadmap© (TIR) is a step-by-step planning tool for implementers in real-world practice settings. Implementation is a complex process with many moving parts. TIR simplifies the process into five main elements from implementation science to provide an implementation planning experience. TIR consists of a workbook and poster and is available as a hard copy and digital download.
Who is TIR for?
TIR is for anyone who is developing and managing an implementation plan in a real practice context, as well as for those who teach implementation. The tool is relevant to any discipline as the concepts are high level.
Why is TIR needed?
Researchers produce many evidence-based innovations that can improve outcomes if successfully implemented. Optimal outcomes depend upon their effective (successful) implementation. Evidence tells us that innovations are very often not successfully implemented and adopted in a timely way. Implementation is a complex process that is subject to high rates of failure and can take many years to navigate, making it costly and resource-intensive. The implementation gap is a critical issue for people who fail to receive the best treatment and care available, for provider organizations who are committed but often struggle to provide evidence-based care, and for society who miss out on returns on investment.
