How many teams can each university send to the International Emory Global Health Case Competition?
Your university can send only one team to the competition. We limit universities to one team because we want to engage a wide range of universities in the competition. Emory University will only be sending one team to the competition as well. In 2020, Emory will accept up to 29 guest university teams located across the globe. 30 teams (29 guest universities plus Emory University) will compete with each other on the Emory University campus in Atlanta, Georgia. If your university is not one of the first 29 to apply, you will have the option of being placed on our wait list.
Who can participate in the International Emory Global Health Case Competition?
Graduate and undergraduate students enrolled at accredited universities are invited to participate. Teams should be comprised of four to six students, and at least three different schools from an applicant university must be represented. For example, your team could include students from your university's nursing, medical, and business schools. Or your team could include students from your university's public health, law, and theology schools. The combination of disciplines does not matter so long as you have at least three different schools represented. Post-graduate and post-doctoral fellows are not eligible to participate if they are not currently enrolled as students in a degree-seeking program at your university.

What is the time commitment for participants?
The case will be released at 12:00 pm Eastern time, Saturday, March 7, 2020. Presentations will be due the following Saturday morning, March 14th (exact time to be determined). Guest university teams typically arrive in Atlanta on the Thursday evening before the Saturday presentation day and participate in a team workday the Friday before the competition. Teams are encouraged to stay through Sunday because the competition typically does not end until early evening.
What is the topic of the 2020 case?
The case topic will not be made available until the case is released on Saturday, March 7th. However, it will require a multidisciplinary approach to develop recommendations to address it. It may include issues such as health care policy, public health implementation and planning, business partnership/investment, medical research, international development, logistics and management, faith/cultural understanding, international law, and other disciplines. Student team members can seek feedback from experts in the field on ideas, however, they must generate the ideas themselves. They cannot present and defend ideas that experts provide to them. The 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 cases are available for review online.
