This course is designed for professionals working in residential and light commercial environments who handle odor-related challenges resulting from damage or contamination.

Odor problems can be complex and persistent. This course equips you with both the technical expertise and practical experience needed to address and resolve odor issues effectively, helping you become a trusted expert in odor control and restoration.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

During this one-day course, you’ll explore the fascinating science of odor control—from the mechanics of olfaction to advanced odor treatment technologies. As an Odor Control Technician, you’ll gain the knowledge to help families, businesses, and property owners restore items that might otherwise be discarded.

You’ll learn how to:

• Identify the biological and chemical sources of odor, including decomposition, mold growth, and combustion-related contaminants such as fire and smoke damage, as well as fuel oil spills and volatile organic compounds.

• Apply the theory of odor control to inspection, detection, and remediation processes.

• Operate cleaning equipment, select appropriate chemical solutions, and apply effective treatment methods.

DETAILS

Upon passing the final exam with a score of 75% or higher, you’ll earn your Odor Control Technician (OCT) certification. This certification fulfills a requirement toward your Master Fire and Smoke Restorer or Master Textile Cleaner designation.

This course also qualifies for 7 Continuing Education Credits (CEC) with the IICRC.

More Than 31 Days Before the Class Start Date

If you are unable to attend your scheduled class and notify us more than 31 days prior to the start date, you may choose one of the following options:

• Transfer your seat to another individual within your organization, or
• Reschedule to another class date of the same course or one of equivalent value.
  
  

Within 31 Days of the Class Start Date

• If you are unable to attend and notify us within 31 days of the class start date, you may transfer your seat to another individual within your organization for the same scheduled date. No rescheduling or additional changes will be permitted due to contractual commitments with the training organization and instructor.
  
  

CLASS CANCELLATIONS BY ARAMSCO

Aramsco will make every reasonable effort to reschedule you for an alternative class based on your availability. A full refund will be issued only if Aramsco is unable to provide an alternative class or determines that extenuating circumstances warrant a refund.

TRAVEL PLAN POLICY

Aramsco is not responsible for any travel-related losses. We recommend purchasing refundable or flexible airline tickets to avoid potential issues.

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

Students attending Aramsco/Safety Express hosted classes agree to adhere to the following code of conduct. Failure to adhere to the code may result in their removal from the class.

• Payment for classes is required in full prior to class.
• Students must use a device with a camera and microphone, along with a strong internet connection.
• Students must participate from a static location that is quiet, free from disturbances, and allows for full concentration on the class instructor and content.
• Departures from the class should be kept to a minimum.
• Cameras must remain enabled, and the video communication technology window must remain active throughout the entire class.
• The minimum contact time for each class requires students must participate for the entirety of the class to be eligible to take the exam. This is an IICRC regulation.
