The AMA Physician Leadership Academy is a 12-month hybrid program (in-person and virtual) designed to teach strategic communication and healthcare leadership to practicing physicians. Tailored for doctors preparing for leadership roles, the curriculum helps participants build stronger teams, boost care quality, and prevent burnout. 

The Academy provides foundational leadership education for physicians who are rising in their organizations, expanding their leadership responsibilities, and preparing for future leadership roles in health care. Over 12 months, participants will learn actionable skills from physician executives and leadership faculty covering a variety of topics such as team motivation, culture building, strategic planning and execution, budget management fundamentals and much more.

Built by the AMA, the most trusted name in physician advocacy and education, this is a year-long education course of early and mid-career physicians seeking out leadership training. An application will ensure participants are prepared and motivated to learn through this program. 

Program components include a 2 day in-person kickoff at AMA Headquarters in Chicago, and monthly teaching sessions. A Capstone Project will also be required.

Admission is application-based to ensure a highly engaged cohort and a productive learning environment. Applications are reviewed holistically, with emphasis on readiness, engagement, and contribution to cohort learning. No prior experience in startups or entrepreneurship is required.
