WELCOME
The 2026 California Youth Justice Summit brings together leaders, practitioners, community organizations, and multidisciplinary partners committed to improving outcomes for youth across California. Hosted by the Office of Youth and Community Restoration (OYCR) in collaboration with OYCR Youth Advisory Board (YAB), the summit creates a space to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and learn from innovative practices across the youth justice field. Participants will engage in meaningful conversations, explore solutions that center youth voice and community healing, and build connections that support lasting systems change. Join us to collaborate, learn, and help shape a stronger future for our youth and our communities.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE SUMMIT
The Summit is a great opportunity to:
- Build individual knowledge of best practices, innovations, discussions on complex issues, collaborative and creative solutions, and learnings that can be implemented sustainably when attendees return to their roles in their jurisdictions and communities.
- Access to a network of systems and support for technical assistance while meeting and expanding knowledge from current subject matter experts in the area of youth justice, trauma informed care, public-private collaborations, and cross-discipline partnerships.
- Examine and adopt best practices for youth justice targeted towards building systems for successful transition of youth into adulthood.
- Uplift the voice of youth and provide opportunity for our young people to be at the decision-making table. Youth should have a hand in developing or altering the policies, procedures and programs that affect them.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE SUMMIT
The Summit is designed for the community of Youth Justice partners: youth that are formerly system involved, practitioners serving the youth involved in the Justice System including probation, child welfare, behavioral health, education, community-based organizations, regional centers, District Attorneys, advocates, Public Defenders, resource families, judges, tribal communities, and policy advocates. Practitioners include frontline staff, supervisors, parents, guardians, youth partners, leadership, and others serving families and youth with juvenile system involvement.
