STEM AI Literacy for K-12 Educators PD 2026-27

Artificial Intelligence is shaping the world our students will live and work in. This course helps educators take practical steps to prepare students for that future, regardless of their role or content area.

This course is a curriculum-focused exploration of how to incorporate and elevate ethical AI literacy with students. The goal is to make small, practical shifts in existing instruction that help prepare students to understand AI and its implications - social, ethical, and technical.

STEM: This activity will have an impact on STEM experiences for students by supporting teachers as they develop their comfort and experience with teaching AI literacy. There are several opportunities for participants to reflect on and plan for teaching about career influences of AI. The learning activities that teachers will implement as a result of their learning will incorporate authentically integrated STEM, primarily with technology, computer science, and science, but with opportunities to incorporate math and engineering as well.

Content standards for continuing education credit hours that apply to this PD are highlighted below.
The content and objectives of in-service continuing education credit hours must relate to one or more of the following:
(1) Opportunities for participants to collect and analyze evidence related to student learning;
(2) Professional certificate standards;
(3) Paraeducator standards of practice as described in Title 179 WAC;
(4) School and district improvement efforts;
(5) Education frameworks and curriculum alignment;
(6) Research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices;
(7) Content of current or anticipated assignment;
(8) Advocacy for students and leadership;
(9) Supervision, mentoring, or coaching; or
(10) Building a collaborative learning community.
