2026 Stanford Gastric Cancer Summit

About the Summit
Gastric cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide and is diagnosed in approximately 27,000 Americans each year. Despite this burden, there is currently no coherent national strategy in the United States for early detection or risk reduction, even among patients at elevated clinical risk. The under-recognition of gastric cancer risk and the absence of standardized approaches to prevention and screening remain significant gaps in U.S. healthcare.
On December 7–8, 2026, the Stanford Center for Asian Health Research and Education (CARE) will host the 2026 Gastric Cancer Summit, convening physicians, researchers, and clinical stakeholders from around the world to address key challenges in gastric cancer.
This multidisciplinary summit will build upon prior meetings, working toward practical solutions and a roadmap for improving early detection, prevention strategies, and clinical outcomes. The goal is to advance evidence-based approaches to gastric cancer management across healthcare settings.
This summit is made possible through the generous support of the Fortinet Founders. Their commitment enables continued progress in research, collaboration, and the development of effective strategies for gastric cancer prevention and treatment.
