Excel 1 – 3
(15 Hours | Prerequisites: Intro to the Industry, previous Oil & Gas employment or strong knowledge of Oil & Gas Industry)

Prior Knowledge required: 

Basic Computer skills, including managing files and folders; opening, saving and organizing documents; basic keyboard and mouse proficiency 

Expect to Learn: 

By completing a basic-to-advanced Excel course, a student can progress from creating simple spreadsheets to building automated dashboards, analyzing large datasets, forecasting trends, and supporting business decision-making. 

Beginner Level

Students learn how to:

  • Navigate the Excel interface 
  • Create and save spreadsheets 
  • Enter and format data 
  • Use rows, columns, and worksheets 
  • Perform basic calculations 
  • Use simple formulas and functions: 
    • SUM 
    • AVERAGE
    • MIN 
    • MAX 
    • COUNT
  • Create basic charts and graphs 
  • Sort and filter data 
  • Print and format reports 

 

Intermediate Level

Students develop stronger data management and analysis skills:

  • Use relative and absolute cell references 
  • Work with conditional formatting 
  • Create and manage tables 
  • Use data validation and drop-down lists 
  • Apply functions such as: 
    • IF 
    • AND 
    • OR 
    • CONCAT
    • TEXT
    • DATE functions 
  • Create PivotTables and PivotCharts 
  • Import and clean data 
  • Use lookup functions: 
    • VLOOKUP
    • HLOOKUP
    • XLOOKUP

Advanced Level

Students learn powerful tools for business analysis and automation:

  • Interactive reports and visualizations
