Hosted by the American Sugar Alliance, this year’s International Sweetener Symposium is a must-attend event for all stakeholders – from field and factory to wholesale and retail – to learn about the most pressing issues facing the U.S. sugar industry. This year’s Symposium theme, “Navigating a Turbulent American Sugar Market,” will cover many critical issues confronting the industry. Program topics will include:

  • Politics:  Predictions and analysis of the 2026 congressional midterm elections and what they might mean for American agriculture.
  • Farm Economy & Legislation: Rural America is hurting: input prices are up, crop prices are down, and natural disasters have taken their toll. Will Congress pass additional farm economic aid, disaster aid, or a Farm Bill 2.0 this year? Is the general farm economy improving or will margins trend thinner?
  • Trade: With the Supreme Court striking down the Trump Administration’s use of IEEPA and the Administration’s continued implementation of tariffs under different executive powers, what is next for U.S. trade policy? Experts will discuss what threats and opportunities lie ahead for the domestic sugar industry with respect to new elements of trade policy and the dynamics of global sugar markets.
  • Food Policy and the MAHA Movement:  How is the MAHA movement changing government policy and overall American eating habits – and what does that mean for U.S. sugar consumption?
  • Outlook for Sugar Markets & the Sugar Program: World prices continue to pull down U.S. prices, leaving the door open to more world dumped sugar entering the U.S. market. With gas prices up and shifting dynamics in Brazil's sugar vs. ethanol output, what's next for the U.S. and World sugar markets? Our expert speakers will provide an overview on current market conditions and provide insight into the uncertainties moving forward.
