This session focuses on the practical design and implementation of OSTEs across healthcare education settings. Participants will explore the core components of OSTEs, including standardized scenarios, standardized learners, evaluator preparation, competency-based assessment tools, and structured formative feedback processes. The session will discuss logistical considerations related to virtual and in-person OSTEs, scheduling, evaluator calibration, psychological safety, and participant preparation.
Examples and lessons learned from a statewide virtual OSTE pilot initiative will be shared, including strategies used to support facilitator reflection, standardized evaluation, and meaningful feedback conversations. Participants will leave with practical considerations and implementation strategies that may be adapted within their own educational environments.
