This course is designed for physical therapists looking to satisfy the requirements necessary for initial certification, recertification, and maintenance of ABPTS Board-Certification in Sports Physical Therapy as well as athletic trainers providing sidelines care for athletes. This course will cover acute injury and illness management for the athlete, including emergency management systems, bloodborne pathogens and preventing disease transmission, primary and secondary assessment, airway and ventilation management, cardiac and respiratory emergency management, medical emergencies, environmental emergencies, shock, muscle/bone/joint injury management, and head/neck/spine injury management.  Please note that this program will not provide a certification in CPR or First Aid.

Continuing Education Units

Continuing Education Credits for Physical Therapists have been approved through the APTA Georgia for 14 contact hours.  These credits may apply toward licensure in other states.  This course has been approved to meet the Acute Management of Injury and Illness(AMII) requirement for both initial certification and maintenance of Board Certification in Sports Physical Therapy.
