Summary
Providers seeking a credential in the Illinois Early Intervention System are required to complete a 2-part System Overview Training before submitting their enrollment/credential application. This 2-part training is comprised of the following 2 components:
Part 1: "Online System Overview Training" is an open access independent study designed for participants to work at their own pace toward completion. This online course is a comprehensive overview of the Illinois Early Intervention System presented in approximately 30-35 modules, divided into 5 sections with a quiz after each section. Topics presented include:
- The Illinois System at a glance, including Federal & State law and policy, Key Stakeholders, and Service Delivery
- Assessment and eligibility determination including Family Rights and Procedural Safeguards
- IFSP Development including Child and Family Outcomes
- Processes for Billing Insurance including Family Fees and Fee Waivers
- The Transition Process
Online learners can expect to take 8-12 hours to complete all training modules, successfully pass all quizzes, and complete the training evaluation at the end of the course in order to access a Certificate of Completion.
With the exception of Child and Family Connections' Service Coordinators and bilingual interpreters and translators, who are required to take separate trainings, this online training is required for all providers seeking a credential in Illinois Early Intervention.
CFC Service Coordinators ARE required to complete Part 2.
Part 2: The "Online System Overview Follow-Up Session" (SOFU) is a one-day, live training requiring separate registration. SOFU is offered several times over the course of a year and at least once each month.
Part 1 (online modules) is required before attending Part 2 (SOFU). SOFU requires knowledge acquired from the online modules.
SOFU must be completed within 12 months of completing the Online Training Modules and are valid for 3 years prior to submitting your Illinois Early Intervention credential application.
Credit
Part 1 of a required 2-part training, no additional early intervention credit is awarded.
