Summary
A one day course to learn the principles and requirements for the end user to comply with machinery safety according to current Machinery Legislation
The aim of this course is to learn the principles and requirements of compliance with the associated legislation relating to Machinery Safety. This includes the requirements for machine design verification including the complete safety lifecycle in the context of safety related control functions. Course attendance is open to all interested parties.
Learning objectives
Upon completion of this course, the participants should be able to:
- ▪ Understand the relevant directives and legislation required for machinery safety
- Understand the Essential Health and Safety Requirements (EHSRs) for machinery safety in the context of machinery verification and compliance
- Gain an appreciation of the process for the identification of hazards and risk assessment and hierarchy of controls
- Understand the requirements and transfer of responsibilities from the manufacturer to the end user
- Gain an appreciation of the residual risk and the responsibility for further hazard and risk assessment for operational plant and equipment
- Explain the process of determination of Safety Performance / Integrity Levels (PL / SIL)
- Explain and determine key factors used in safety control function design and operation
- Appreciate the requirements for operation and maintenance to maintain safe systems of work
- Management of change (MoC) implications
