Career and Education Advising Course

Designed specifically for those who provide career and education advice to adults; this course will help participants apply career development theory to their work and assess the value of education and training related to career choices.

CAEL's 12-week CEAC intensive course covers the following key topics:
- Apply career development theory to your work
- Advising Adults: Approaches and Competencies
- Exploring Career and Education Options
- Advising Diverse Populations: understanding social, cultural and economic contexts
- Advise a diverse workforce
- The Career Planning Process: assessment; data-gathering; goal-setting; action plan
- Ethics in Advising
- Capstone: You will be required to exhibit understanding of the skills necessary for providing successful career and education advising

An additional 15% discount is available for groups of 5 or more individuals attending from the same school, registering at the same time.
Learning Experience
The course is delivered online in a mostly asynchronous manner. This means that you can participate by watching presentations, reading content, completing activities, reflecting, writing, and discussing topics with your fellow students in the community forums at a time that is convenient for you. There will be options for live interaction with the course facilitator and other participants several times during the course.
The final week of the course is dedicated to presentation of and feedback on Capstone projects.
Delivery & Earning Your Certificate of Completion
- This course is instructor-led, asynchronous, and offered online.
- Participant engagement is approximately 7 hours per week.
- The total number of points available for the course is 224. To successfully complete the course and earn a certificate of completion students must complete all assignments and earn at least 192 points.
- There will be a penalty of one-half point per day on assignments and assessments that are turned in late unless the instructors are informed of extenuating circumstances.
- Certificates of completion are emailed to successful students approximately three weeks after the final day of class

Cancellation Policy
Students who withdraw from the course within one week after the start of the course may request a full refund, minus a $150 processing fee.
Students who withdraw within two weeks after the start of the course may request to be re-enrolled in a future section for a $350 re-enrollment fee. Students who fail to re-enroll will forfeit their entire registration fee. All requests for refunds or re-enrollment must be made via email to your instructor and membershipservices@cael.org.

CAEL's instructor-led training counts towards recertification of NAWDP's CDWP credential! Hours spent in these courses will help participants gain job-relevant and future-ready knowledge towards NAWDP's five competencies:
