MTA Summer Conference returns to UMass Amherst from July 26 to 29 with four days of workshops, skill-building, and community under this year's theme: Building on Legacies of Collective Resistance. This theme inspires us to learn from the long history of movements for labor, racial, gender, education and economic justice, as well as other related struggles for dignity, and especially from those communities who have lived under generational systemic oppression. By grounding today’s political and social moment in historical context, we strengthen our confidence, cultivate hope, and build our capacity to translate hard-won lessons into effective action today.

Choose from over 100 sessions on union skills, professional development, and anti-oppression education, plus Bargaining and PDP Certificate courses and graduate credit. If you are a New Member, New President or Next Generation Leader, there is special programming for you. New this year: ESP Day and Retiree Day join the return of Higher Ed Day. Evenings feature the Resistance Café, Karaoke Bash, Open Hangouts, Trivia, and more. Whether you're a first-time attendee or a conference regular, you'll leave more connected, more skilled, and ready for the work ahead.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

All MTA members are eligible and warmly encouraged to attend the Summer Conference. Members seeking to enhance their knowledge of content areas or classroom techniques will be delighted with the abundance of programs on these subjects. New and seasoned local leaders will find essential workshops to prepare them for their roles, to hone their union skills, and learn how their local can develop its full capacity.

ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE

As we come together, let's also join forces to reduce our carbon footprint. Opting for ride-sharing, utilizing public transportation, or carpooling not only fosters camaraderie but also minimizes the environmental impact of our travels.
