Stabilizing AI Data Centers with Medium-Voltage Power Conditioning

The rapid growth of large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) data centers is introducing new challenges for electric power systems. AI computing clusters can exhibit highly dynamic load profiles, with power demands reaching several hundred megawatts and ramp rates that exceed the capabilities of existing grid infrastructure. Conventional architectures based on low-voltage battery energy storage systems (BESS) and parallel uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) become increasingly complex and difficult to scale while providing limited capability to actively manage grid interactions.

This seminar will explore medium-voltage power (MV) conditioner architecture incorporating an MVDC BESS to simultaneously address grid stability and power stability requirements for next-generation AI data centers. Positioned between the utility grid and the data center distribution system, the power conditioner decouples fast data center load transients from slower grid dynamics through bidirectional power conversion and coordinated energy buffering. The architecture enables controlled ramp-rate compliance, improved power quality, enhanced ride-through capability, and fault-tolerant operation.

Join this seminar to explore how medium-voltage power conditioning can help address the unique power challenges posed by next-generation AI data centers and learn how an MVDC BESS positioned between the utility grid and data center distribution systems can decouple highly dynamic AI load transients, enabling improved ramp-up rates, enhanced power quality, and more.

The session will also examine applications beyond traditional grid-connected deployments , including Behind-the-Meter configurations incorporating on-site gas turbine generation. Attendees will gain insight into how MVDC energy buffering can shield assets from high-frequency load disturbances and sub-synchronous torsional interaction, supporting more stable and predictable operation, and leave with a practical understanding of how this can support data center deployments.
