#MLDevJam is a developer challenge where you build something awesome related to a theme, then submit it as a concept to Magic Leap World or to the Web. When your concept gets published, we'll send you a patch and may feature your work on our blog and social channels. The Spring 2020 #MLDevJam has a unique theme to help guide your creative process. Spatial computing unlocks untold potential to change the way we think and live. Our imaginations are no longer confined to a screen. Gravity is no longer an obstacle. Anyone with a bit of skill and the willingness to learn can create spatial apps that challenge our preconceived notions around education, entertainment, gaming, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, tourism, architecture, productivity and so much more. The maverick developers of the future will be those that start developing for spatial computing today. Our goal is to challenge you to level up your skills and help you connect with one another and build things that used to be impossible.

SPRING 2020 #MLDevJam Theme: Hack Your Workspace!

Every Magic Leap DevJam will have a unique theme to help guide your creative process.

As developers, we have monster monitors, wacky headphones, keyboards that are too loud and configured in ways that no one else can type on. We take our chairs very, very seriously. When it comes time to sit down at our desks and do work, we’re all about that perfect, personal setup. And with the whole world working from home, hacking your workspace together has never been more important.

With Magic Leap, we’re moving towards a world where our setup won’t include all the hardware we’re used to. Around Magic Leap HQ, you’ll often see people lounging on couches with nothing more than Magic Leap hardware and a bluetooth keyboard. That got us thinking...what else from our desks can we replace in spatial computing?

With spatial computing, you can make space on your desks and free up room in your office by replacing physical tools and objects with spatial ones. What do you use in your day to day that would benefit from a spatial replacement? We want to see it.

Everyone who gets published to Concepts or on Glitch will receive a limited edition Magic Leap patch (while supplies last)

PUBLISHING & SUBMISSION DETAILS

Summary

In order to complete the jam and receive a limited edition patch, its not enough to just work on a project, you have to submit your project in one of two ways:

1. Publish to the Concepts section of Magic Leap World (our app store)

2. Submit to Glitch

What are Concepts?

Concepts are small, free experiences published on Magic Leap World that showcase new ideas, designs, interactions, and gestures in Magic Leap World. These lightweight experiences are designed to inspire and be shared with our developer community. The criteria for publishing concepts are simpler, allowing you to share concepts quickly to get feedback on your projects. Publishing to Concepts is for developers developing with Unity, UE4, LuminRT and MagicScript.

How to publish to Concepts:

What is Glitch?

Glitch is where web developers can share their spatial web experiences! Your submissions should be easy to use, with a clear connection to the #MLDevJam theme. These lightweight experiences are designed to inspire and be shared with our developer community.. Publishing to glitch is for web developers using Prismatic for #MLDevJam.

How to Publish to Glitch?

  1. Find the project you want to submit and click 'Edit Project' to open the Editor view.
2. Underneath the project name, you will see a 'Share' button. Click this button to see your project sharing options.
  3. Under 'Invite Others To Edit', you'll find a unique invite URL for the project. Click the 'copy' button next to it to save the invite URL to your clipboard.
  4. Once that link has been copied, you can paste it within our submission form under App URL: https://mldevjam-submission-form.glitch.me/
