Are you in food service or retail? What about an Agriscience or Family and Consumer Sciences teacher? If so, then we've got a program that you don't want to miss.
Join us as we take you on a journey from "pasture to plate" where your students or employees can learn all about our favorite protein at Auburn University's state-of-the-art beef cattle teaching facilities. Participate in a live animal evaluation to experience cattle up close and personal while learning about how cattle are raised here in Alabama then tour the Lambert-Powell Meats Lab and watch a team of meat scientists as they fabricate a beef carcass into retail cuts. All the while, you can have your questions answered by industry professionals so you can leave the program with a better knowledge of beef production practices.
Beef 101 is a complete look at the beef production chain, and you can be a part of it!
*This program was created for high school students and older. We do not recommend it for any younger grades due to the content and length of sessions.

Things to know before you come:
- Beef 101 is a FREE program held on Auburn University's campus. We ask that you respect the students and employees around you in the shared spaces.
- We can accommodate up to 90 students per session, so if you have a smaller group you will likely be paired with another set of students to ensure we are reaching as many classes as possible with the resources we have! With that, any dates with less than 30 attendees registered by the deadline are subject to cancelation or rescheduling.
- While this program is available as a fully-funded educational resource, there is a lot of time and expense that goes into the classes, meals, and demonstrations. We charge a 100% refundable registration fee that will be refunded after the event. For groups that no-show or bring less than 75% of their registered attendees, the $100 fee will not be refunded.
- Long pants and closed toed shoes are REQUIRED for all attendees.
- The meat fabrication portion of the day will take place in a room with an average temperature of around 40 degrees Fahrenheit. We suggest you bring a thick jacket.
- Lunch is provided for all pre-registered students and teachers.
- Students will be interacting with livestock. We ask that attendees respect the animals and stay calm during these sessions to ensure safety.
