About
The 2026 ICPSR Summer Program in Quantitative Methods features over 90 classes covering a wide range of topics and techniques, from introductory statistics and regression analysis to advanced multilevel models and Bayesian analysis to machine learning, among others. Our broad curriculum is designed to fulfill the training needs of students, faculty, and researchers throughout their education and careers.

Location & Format
General Sessions: All General Session classes will be offered in a hybrid format: In-person on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, as well as livestream online via Zoom, with lecture recordings for asynchronous review. All participants will have extended access to lecture recordings and class materials through December 31, 2026.
General Session classes are categorized as either a math and computing Lecture, or methods Course. Lectures, held during Week 1 of each Session, provide a half-semester’s worth (20 instructional contact hours) of instruction in math like calculus, as well as computing software like R and Python. Courses, held during Weeks 2-4 of each Session, feature a full semester’s worth (40 contact hours) of intensive instruction in specific quantitative methods and statistical techniques. This offers a chance to learn computing skills and math knowledge before beginning your methodological training.
You can select up to 4 methods Courses, plus unlimited math and computing Lectures, for each General Session.
Topical Workshops: From May through August 2026, we will offer more than 40 Topical Workshops ranging in length from three days to two weeks. Topical Workshops will offer 20 or 40 contact hours of instruction.
For online-only Topical Workshops, you can participate synchronously via Zoom or watch lecture recordings asynchronously at your convenience. We also offer several Topical Workshops in a hybrid format; participants can choose to participate in-person on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, or online via Zoom livestream and lecture recordings. Our Topical Workshops also provide extended access to lecture recordings and workshop materials through December 31, 2026 (unless stated otherwise in the workshop description).
Class Changes & Cancellations
Unforeseen circumstances may require changes in class content, format, instructors, or timing. Hybrid Topical Workshops may convert to a virtual-only format in the case of insufficient in-person registrations. We will post corrected information to this website and inform registrants as quickly as possible. In the rare event that a Topical Workshop must be cancelled due to low enrollment, we will notify registrants via email at least two weeks prior to the start date of the workshop, and you will receive a full refund of your registration fee.
On-Campus Housing
University of Michigan on-campus housing is available for in-person participants attending our First and Second General Sessions. General Session participants who register for on-campus housing will receive a 10% discount on their General Session registration fees.
