EVENT OVERVIEW
Strengthening Literacy Through the Reading–Writing Connection This professional learning session focuses on strengthening literacy instruction by intentionally connecting reading and writing within K–5 classrooms. Participants will examine research on the reciprocal relationship between reading and writing and explore how writing supports word recognition, language development, and comprehension. The session highlights evidence-based practices such as sentence-level writing, transcription skills, and text-based writing that reinforce reading development. Educators will analyze instructional practices and student writing to identify opportunities for stronger alignment between reading and writing and consider how integrated instruction can support strong Tier 1 literacy and inform instructional decision-making.
