The aim of the hands-on training workshop is to equip infectious disease researchers, particularly those with limited backgrounds in structural biology, with the skills needed to effectively learn and utilize structural resources and computational tools. Designed for a beginner-level audience with at least approximately two years of experience in infectious diseases, the workshop will introduce participants to publicly available computational modeling and structural biology tools, providing comprehensive training on their use. Over the course of 2½ days, attendees will gain foundational knowledge and practical skills in using resources such as the Protein Data Bank (PDB) and computational structural biology tools, including ChimeraX, virtual reality applications, AlphaFold, and BindCraft, for the visualization and modeling of protein complexes. The training will emphasize applications related to emerging infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance, with a focus on identifying targets for therapeutics and vaccine development.
