The National Intervener Certification E-portfolio (NICE) system is an assessment process that interveners can use to submit evidence of knowledge and skills outlined in standards published by the Council for Exceptional Children. The evidence, which consists of digital documentation, such as video samples, described pictures, and other items from an intervener’s training and practice, is evaluated by trained reviewers who are experts in the field of deaf-blindness. Each portfolio is scored by at least two reviewers and certificates are awarded to applicants who pass with a score of 75% or higher.  All certification determinations are made by the Paraprofessional Resource and Research Center, which manages portfolio submissions, the review process, and communication of certification decisions to applicants.

To register, you must have already completed NICE Modules 1 and 2. Please contact the team at The National Center on Deaf-Blindness if you still need to complete these modules.  To complete registration you will need your (or the candidate's) personal information, the name and contact information of the candiate's mentor, as well as a method of payment.

The NICE Team is excited to have you start the next step in the process! Good Luck!
