CNG fueling stations dispense gaseous fuel stored at very high pressure and require specific design and construction practices, including building materials, that differ substantially from those used for gasoline and diesel fueling stations. In addition, CNG stations must be designed and built based on numerous applicable codes, standards and regulations that reflect the unique properties of the fuel, with the purpose of ensuring safety.

This three hour on-demand e-learning course is designed for anyone who needs a deeper understanding of  various codes, standards and regulations applicable to CNG stations. It summarizes the code requirements in a simplified manner, while at the same time not violating the copyrights of the publishing organizations.

Course Objectives:

  • Recognize the primary role of codes, standards and regulations in CNG fueling station sizing, design, permitting, construction, operation and maintenance.
  • Recognize NFPA 52 and its major requirements for CNG fueling stations.
  • Identify when to apply NFPA 30A to CNG fueling station design.
  • Apply NFPA 70 to identify the hazardous areas within a CNG fueling station.
  • Describe the requirements of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code to CNG fueling station design and operation.
  • Describe the requirements of ASME B31.3 to CNG fueling station design.
  • Recognize the application of ANSI NGV1, 2 and 4 series standards to CNG fueling stations.
