The Healing Path Project: Advanced Trauma-Informed Training for Licensed Counselors

This is a specialized professional development series meticulously designed for licensed counselors, offering in-depth education on mental trauma, including moral injury (MI), adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), complex trauma, and PTSD. This program delves into the sources and neurobiological impact of trauma, equipping participants with advanced strategies for assessment, intervention (including modalities like EMDR and Play Therapy), and prevention, while also addressing critical aspects such as cultural competence, crisis response, and the essential need for counselor self-care to mitigate secondary traumatic stress.

Moral Injury Support Network for Servicewomen, Inc. has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7881. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Moral Injury Support Network for Servicewomen, Inc. is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

There are four sessions for this program, each worth 3 credit hours. You can sign up for individual sessions or receive a big discount for all four:

1. February 4th, 2026: The Weight of What’s Right: Understanding and Treating Moral Injury Across Professions. This comprehensive three-hour continuing education program is designed to equip licensed counselors with an in-depth understanding of moral injury, a complex psychological impact that extends beyond military populations to various professional and life contexts. The first hour offers a detailed exploration of moral injury, including its definition, symptoms, and the range of experiences across different disciplines that can lead to this condition. The remaining two hours focus on practical, evidence-based counseling techniques and therapeutic interventions to support clients suffering from moral injury.
2. May 13th, 2026: Military Families and Trauma: Essential Strategies for Counselors. This is a specialized training designed for licensed counselors seeking to enhance their understanding and skills in addressing trauma among children from military families. This impactful 3-hour session provides mental health professionals with a deep dive into the unique challenges faced by military children, highlighting how trauma manifests and how to effectively support their emotional and psychological recovery.
3. August 12th, 2026: Healing from Within: Recognizing and Addressing Grief and Loss after Moral Injury. This 3-hour training is designed for licensed counselors to explore the complex intersections of grief, loss, and moral injury. Participants will deepen their understanding of moral injury’s unique impact on emotional, spiritual, and moral well-being, and learn effective strategies to support clients through healing and moral recovery. The session also emphasizes self-care and ethical practices for counselors working with affected populations, fostering resilience and compassion in both clients and practitioners.
4. November 11, 2026: From Moral Wounds to Resilient Souls: Fostering Growth After Moral Injury. This training equips licensed counselors with the insights and skills to understand moral injury and facilitate post-traumatic growth and resilience. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical approaches, participants will learn how to guide clients toward healing, meaning-making, and strength beyond trauma, ultimately supporting lasting recovery and personal transformation.
