ABOUT THE EVENT
How far can one summer evening take your ideas, your network, your curiosity?
Join our Summer Special After-Work Drinks at L'Artisan Restaurant & Bar Hotel Rotary Geneva – in a city that serves as a gateway for international travellers and professionals heading into the Alps and across Europe; Geneva welcomes every passport and every perspective, and so does this event.
We will mark 175 years since Albert Smith’s 1851 ascent of Mont Blanc, (it took place on August 12th), a story that helped turn Alpine travel into a symbol of ambition and exploration and captured the heart of Londoners on his return and for years to come. We will also highlight Edward Whymper, one of the great British-Swiss Legends we are celebrating this year, whose 1865 Matterhorn ascent opened a new chapter in mountain history. Two lives that remind us how powerful a single bold decision can be.
To enrich the discussion, Cornelius Schregle, travel writer and sharp observer of Swiss landscapes and culture, will join us to talk about his books, including “Backdrop Switzerland” and his latest work "On the Footsteps of Ian Fleming".
