The primary goal of the program is to provide pharmacy residents, fellows and new faculty with an opportunity to enhance their teaching skills. Below is a list of the program objectives.

Program Objectives:

  1. Recommend approaches to motivate students to learn
  2. Describe mechanisms to deal with cases of academic dishonesty
  3. Describe effective ways to approach the development of a research project
  4. List the steps necessary to develop and submit a manuscript appropriate for publication in a  peer-reviewed journal
  5. List strategies to establish good relationships with your students
  6. Demonstrate the ability to write specific learning objectives for a CE presentation or classroom lecture
  7. Prepare an effective handout for a CE presentation or classroom lecture
  8. Demonstrate the ability to write thought-provoking test questions
  9. Incorporate strategies to facilitate active learning when delivering a CE presentation or classroom lecture
  10. List appropriate mechanisms for management of students who are not meeting expectations during a clerkship rotation
  11. Describe effective strategies for questioning students during experiential learning activities
  12. Develop a teaching portfolio documenting your teaching philosophy
  13. Explain characteristics of a successful mentor-mentee relationship
  14. Describe the basic principles related to a successful career in pharmacy academia
  15. Incorporate contemporary technology resources while delivering a CE presentation or classroom lecture
