Overview of the Event
From 15–17 April 2027, the ECIS Leadership Conference is coming to the heart of Stockholm, hosted by Stockholm International School at its extraordinary Norra Latin campus. This magnificent historic building has been carefully restored as a school, with beautiful spaces designed for people to gather, think and learn together. It is the perfect setting for three ambitious days of ideas, challenge and connection.
Our theme is Co-Intelligent Leadership: Human Wisdom in the Age of AI. The phrase takes its cue from Ethan Mollick’s bestselling ‘Co-Intelligence’, which invites us to treat AI as a genuine thinking partner while keeping the human firmly in the loop. We will look beyond the technology itself and explore what becomes possible when human leadership and artificial intelligence work well together. As AI changes what individuals and teams can do, it also gives us the opportunity to think afresh about leadership: where we add value, how we make better decisions and how we create the conditions for people to do their best work.
At ECIS, we adopt a relational approach to all we do, doubling down on equity, connection and empathy in pursuit of a better and more sustainable world for everyone. Recent research from Harvard Kennedy School gives us real grounds for optimism. Their research suggested that people who led AI most effectively were also those who led human teams most effectively, and what set them apart was deeply human. They asked more questions and they listened more.
Across three days, leaders from across the ECIS community will bring Co-Intelligent Leadership to life through bold ideas, honest practice and evidence from schools. Expect fresh thinking, generous exchange and conversations that continue long after the sessions end. Come ready to contribute, to be challenged, to discover what others are learning and to leave with new energy for the leader you are becoming.

Call for Proposals
We invite proposals from schools and thought leaders across our global community in five tracks. We are especially excited to hear from serving school leaders and teams who are ready to share their practice, their learning and the questions they are still exploring.
Track 1 Human in the Loop
The AI strand. How is your school working creatively and purposefully with AI in teaching, learning, assessment and operations? We are looking for practical stories of co-intelligence in action: the possibilities you have discovered, what you have learned and how people stay in charge of the decisions that matter. Show us AI in service of leadership and learning, and the difference it is making.
Track 2 The Human Advantage
As machines grow more capable, distinctly human capabilities matter more than ever. This track is about the individual: how leaders develop judgment, empathy, curiosity and creative confidence in themselves, and how they coach or model these qualities in staff and students, one person at a time. Show us how you are building these capacities on purpose, not leaving them to chance.
Track 3 Leading Learning Cultures
Co-intelligence thrives in cultures of trust. This track works at the system level: the structures, norms and rituals, drawing on research into psychological safety and collective intelligence, that let a whole team or school feel confident to experiment, question and learn together. Show us how you've designed the conditions, not just hoped for them.
Track 4 Wise Leadership
For boards, heads and senior leaders shaping the strategic and ethical response to AI: data responsibility, policy, equity of access and decision-making in a fast-changing landscape. This track is about wise, practical leadership and governance that keeps purpose, people and learning firmly at the centre. Bring the frameworks and hard calls that have actually guided your decisions, not just the policies on paper.
Track 5 The Future is Human
What might education become, and how do we place wellbeing, purpose and flourishing at its heart? This track invites bold thinking about the future of international education and how we prepare young people not simply to navigate that future, but to shape it. We welcome sessions that are genuinely speculative as well as those grounded in what schools are already doing well.
Our theme draws on Ethan Mollick’s Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI (2024) and recent Harvard research, including Measuring Human Leadership Skills with AI Agents (Harvard Kennedy School, 2025).
