Course Description
Class II composite restorations remain one of the most technically demanding procedures in restorative dentistry — with contact point creation, matrix adaptation, and material handling consistently cited as the greatest challenges. This hands-on course is designed to demystify the Class II workflow by pairing foundational clinical knowledge with real-time practice on a typodont model. Attendees will explore the Dentsply Sirona restorative system from the ground up — including Prime&Bond active universal adhesive, SDR flow bulk-fill composite, TPH Spectra ST, the Palodent sectional matrix system, and the SmartLite Pro curing light. Through a structured didactic session followed by a guided hands-on exercise, participants will leave with both the conceptual framework and the muscle memory to execute a predictable, efficient Class II restoration.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the scientific rationale behind each component of the Dentsply Sirona Class II restorative system — including the Active-Guard technology in Prime&Bond active, the stress-relief modulator in SDR flow, and the filler morphology of TPH Spectra ST — and explain how each material contributes to a durable, esthetic outcome.
2. Select and correctly apply the appropriate Palodent matrix, wedge, and ring configuration for a given Class II preparation, with an understanding of how proper matrix adaptation and sectional ring placement contribute to contact point development and marginal seal.
3. Execute a step-by-step Class II composite restoration using the Dentsply Sirona workflow — from adhesive placement and bulk-fill increments to final occlusal layer and light curing — demonstrating proper technique, incremental depth awareness, and curing light positioning on a hands-on model.
