4th Annual Fall Convening Practice Principled Innovation
Mirabella, Lifelong Learning Auditorium
Event Description
The 2026 Principled Innovation Fall Convening centers on the themes of Gratitude and Belonging, exploring how values-driven leadership and innovation can strengthen human connection, foster inclusive communities and support collective flourishing. Through dialogue, storytelling and collaborative learning, participants will engage with habits and practices that help people live together well amid conditions of complexity and difference.
Drawing connections between the framework outlined in Live Like a Citizen and the Principled Innovation® Framework, keynote speaker Eric Liu will invite participants to consider how gratitude, belonging and civic-minded engagement can cultivate more humane and thriving communities. These conversations will continue throughout the convening as participants engage with one another through collaborative discussions and shared inquiry.
A featured panel on Building Civic Character through Community, featuring Jeffrey Rosen, Francesca Schuler, Eileen Borris and Joan McGregor will bring together diverse perspectives on how communities can cultivate the values, relationships and practices that support civic life. Panelists will invite participants to consider how our institutions and shared spaces can foster civic character, strengthen belonging and build our capacity to engage constructively across differences.
The convening is designed to spark new ideas, deepen relationships, and inspire action that strengthens the civic fabric of our communities.
Why Mirabella?
We are excited to host this year’s convening at Mirabella at ASU, a setting that embodies Principled Innovation in action. As an inaugural recipient of ASU’s President’s Award for Principled Innovation, Mirabella was recognized for its distinctive model of lifelong learning, intergenerational connection, and intentional community design.
By fostering dignity, inclusion, belonging, and meaningful engagement between residents and the broader ASU community, Mirabella demonstrates how values-driven innovation can advance human flourishing and strengthen community—making it an especially meaningful place for us to gather.
